One of our office PC was upgraded to Windows 10 last week and it has MalwareBytes as its AV. The start menu button and the search bar of cortona thing is not clicking at all. Only right click works. What could it be ?

Wait until it's finished, restart your PC and check if it works. You can also check file system for corruption. Open Command Prompt with Admin rights and type in " sfc /scannow ".

Also: when clicking on the Windows (start) logo, and looking under both "Application" and "System" logs in the event viewer, no new entries (nor errors) have appeared. Are there any options left besides reinstalling (or reupgrading) my Windows system?

Are you using a registry cleaner, where is allowed to find and remove the "Empty Keys"? For example Wise Registry Cleaner. If so, then simply restore removed "empty keys" and everything is ok.
I had the same problem and was able to reproduce it... The problem was related with filesharing in local group. if I shared the "users" folder which already had some permissions set and tell windows to re-apply the permissions, after a reboot, boom! Windows was trashed. Microsoft already fixed this problem in wu... so I advise. If using the first released iso of windows 10 and told the installer TO NOT DOWNLOAD UPDATES during the install process, do no mess with network settings prior using Windows update and applying all fixes to date. I found that when left clicking on my (non-functioning) Start menu, a new event (error) with ID 6065 occurs/appears under Event Viewer > Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > SettingSync (Debug) CAS::_EnsureInitialized CLSID initialized hit an error 0x800708ca I'm not sure if this is causing the non working Start menu or that it's just an informational type of an error.
Well, i've managed to solve the problem without downgrading or reinstalling Windows. In my case, the problem seemed to be related to the "Tile Data model server" (tiledatamodelsvc) service, which wasn't running for some reason. After enabling the service via the Registry Editor (can't change its state via Services itself) and restarting Windows, it (left-clicking start(menu) logo / right-clicking icons in taskbar/systray) worked again. before after (current setting) I had these problems for weeks (if not a month), but my efforts/actions have finally payed off. I only wonder what made me mess with that service in the first place.
