Don't know about the loader but I have used it to repair my boot menu in Win7 & Vista. If you do use it you'll probably have to use a BCD app. to rename the OS's again unless you can live w/ the default names.
default names? im sure those are fine. what else would i want, a custom one? i already did the start-up repair. was having problems with a triple-boot. did i mess up the loader some-how?

that doesn't mean that you have a validation issue,could be anything. what does it say on the details error ?
