I followed those instructions and made an updated Windows 7 Professional iso, and it runs simply awesome.

Easier way, IMO, would have been the vanilla wim and integrate the Simplix pack. Each to their own though.

I have a couple of computers setup this way, and to be honest they lack performance, but this new method works really great, actually I'm thinking in making a new EN-US iso since mine is ES_ES and share it with who needs it :D

What do you mean lack performance? Does Microsoft's image update method provide a faster system than using Simplix's pack to update the image?

In my case yes, I am loading my 3rd computer with this new iso made with MS update method and the difference in performance in the resulting install, versus the Simplix method is noticeable enough.

Wow, that's a list to read, this is how i do the basics:

Run simplix pack offline on a clean msdn wim, done :D

Want to do more? Run it in audit mode and install what you want like dotnet46x, sysprep, capture done.

And how can there be noticeable differences in performance because of method of updating?

    Two questions:

    1. Can I install KB3020369 and KB3125574 on a live system (vm)? Just saying because I see no point to integrate them in an offline fashion and afterwards fire up a vm and continue with the rest of updates.

    2. Can I use KB3177467 which has superseded KB3020369?

This msft scenario could simply be done by just installing windows in audit mode, install whatever solves the long WU scan issue and run WU, sysprep, capture and be done :D

And the audit/sysprep/capture procedure is not even mentioned in detail (the hard part for most readers).

    1. Yes
    2. You should

    ---

the article basically explains how to create a base SP2 image that you can use always instead starting from SP1 every time

and when the monthly rollup become fully cumulative, you would not need anymore updates
