the question is in the title... who uses currently Avast, AVG or their likes on build 10074 ? I tried F-Secure, slows down the system
Common sense seems to still work fine for me, regardless of OS, and without system resources (probably isn't too helpful though; sorry)
I'm testing Avira free 15.0.9.504. Light on resources, quite impressive. The system is still snappy and I don't feel any differences after installing.
You could try ClamWin. ClamWin could also be used on MS-Servers, it's a fully capable Server AV too and it's freeware!!
Yes, ClamWin is a good option for many. Personally I would let Win10 get infected with Virus' using its own defender system, just to see how it reacts. By RTM MS should have already worked with some of these AV companies. I am surprised a few haven't jumped in on a beta program specifically for the technical preview. Smaller companies are doing just that, such as Yamicsoft and their Windows 10 Manager for example.
symantec has already a working beta solution, poing to try it this day updated: works fine, light on resources, stable and all, Norton rules
Although the rankings can't never be absolute speaking about AVs, Avira is surely not just the best free AV, but also one of the best taking in account also the paid ones. That with the autostart disabled, the sistem correctly updated and, most importanly, the right browser malwares are mostly a matter of the past. Never touch explorer, but also other widespread browsers, use a good one like Opera or Vivaldi and keep your eyes open while installing "free" sw, often bundled with crapware installed during the setup time is more than enough to live happily w/o the need of any AV (defender included)
I do agree, but I'm not sure to be able to identify counterfeit site and sophisticated worms hidden behind apparently known legit software, this is why I still need an AV to make sure.
