I installed it, got it running the way I wanted with Classic Shell and locked down as much of the spy crap that I could. But, going on a year later, the upgrade itch is, well, itching. Is there a preferred version..??(frankly, I haven't kept up as much as I should) Any thoughts and advice would be appreciated... Thanks.
For the spyware crap it is still there also in the new version but you could use MSMG toolkit to remove most of it and then Upgrade
10586 is more stable than 10240 + colored windows! Seriously, if you can update, then do it. If you can't update, and it's working fine now, don't worry about it.
Obviously that sentence is an oxymoron. How can be more stable a rolling release that changes every week v.s. a stable LTS version meant to stay there for 5 years?
For me what is in the numbers I guess and there for an stable OS for one machine could be unstable for another so in other words define stable isn't that MS want to make the customers believe that they buy an stable LTSB for example i find that highly BS because one day an system can be an stable one and the next day when you installed you favourite program it could turn the OS in an unstable one ! So maybe whe have to forget about the definition STABLE as it comes to OS and software
Stable intended as "not crashy" is more or less a pointless definition since the day XP was released. Everything except Vista (especially Sp0) is stable since that day Stable intended as a not changing each day applies to 10240 but not on other W10 since now W10 aped the Archlinux, rolling release behavior.
lol, not only like buttons have disappeared but also some post I made recently. Missing at least 30 though
Yen had to disable thanks system because of an error, he will look into it later!!! See chat archives for details!!!
I run Windows 10 on two different brand laptops and a netbook, plus my home made gaming machine, and 10586 works better than 10240 on my particular hardware. I don't think it's a coincidence but maybe it is. Time will tell.
Sure, possible. Even likely. But what about the next 6 months? or the next year. Possibly your marevel 586 will be updated this summer and maybe will be not so stable. I don't hope so, obviously, but statisitcally a 10240 that works well now will work well the next year, while isn't so sure for the rolling versions.
Because that "rolling release that changes every week" gets only updated once a month with bug fixes and improvements just like that "stable LTS version". And by the way, that "stable LTS version" isn't a LTS version at all. That only applies to machines in the LTSB and when a person uses common sense, they aren't running that version on a normal machine. 10240 is out of support for normal devices.
