    Hello all,
I am trying to make an install disc for a dimension 9200 and am having problems with the install disc. When starting the text mode part of install goes thru base loading and then when says starting windows at the bottom switched to a bsod basically saying it has been shut down to protect windows with stop code 0x0000007B and won't let me install windows at all. I downloaded the raid drivers from install and slipstreamed to a windows xp mce disc that I had and still won't work but disc works on a different machine no problems (tested on dv3t jsut didn't find hdd since different raid controller) but discs runs fine on that pc not this one. Even tried an older sp2 disc instead of sp3 and did the same thing. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I think it is the sata driver but I got the newest from dell. Also runs Ubuntu just fine on a different drive that I have been switching out. Newly formatted drive that had OS on before to that was XP. Just got virus so needed to reload but stuck now LOL. But pretty sure hardware is fine. Only have raid and raid auto in BIOS for controller and tried both with no go. Will try again and look over link a little more. Thanks

Try switching back to the older version to see if that fixes the issue....

Yeh I did I had did a low level format with my laptop to zero entire drive. did a fdisk /mbr as well. Rescanned with Kaspersky internet security 2010 with all updates as of 1.23.2010 10pm

I can't find older version from dell (site blows) but got an older one from intel directly for ich8r and am slipstreaming that now. Will let you know in a little.

this is due to XP not supporting AHCI mode drivers out of the box. If you are using a custom CD you made then you need to integrate these drivers into TXT mode setup. Also you can't switch from IDE mode to AHCI mode in XP without hacking the registry, and I am not going to release my patch to do it. Though if you google lenovo AHCI patch you can find a similar one.

Yeh still no go with that disc but works in older machine. What I am going to try is downloading tablet edition sp2 from ms integrating sp3 and intel ich8r drivers to it (controller) and nothing else and give it a start from fresh again and see what that does.
or try and just install sp2 and go from there.

Just weird that it was working fine before this and had install no problems before. Although then I had a sp2 disc and can't find that one anymore. so I needed a new one and the few that I have tried all give me the same error
