anybody know what 0xC0020036 means? i can't download anything off the windows store. i googled it and nothing came up which is odd...
Virtually all the sites require you to download repair tools that seem likely to add bloatware to your system. He is asking for direct solution, which is quite understandable. My advise would be to run sfc /scannow at the elevated command prompt. If that didn't solve the problem he can 'refresh' the system.
the first 7 or 8 were bogus, didn't load at all, the rest were / are pretty unhelpful in the information that contained, still looking but a few pages in and still haven't found anything relevant...yet There is no fixit, which proves you didn't bother checking the links, i wish people wouldn't post a search link and not bother to check first.
What build version of Windows 10 are you running? I assume you are on Windows 10 by posting the issue with your system on this section of the forum.
. Several of them have links to the fixit too, one has the Microsoft fixit tool standard link icon. I checked several of the links, my little "problem" right now is I'm on my iMac. That means I can look but not download. But no matter, you seem to have the problem well in hand
Try Start > Run: wsreset And stop WU service, clear contents of SoftwareDistribution folder, start WU service again, try downloading from store
get tweaking.com windows repair AIO (majorgeejs.com has a portable) .. run in safemode, will take 50 mins at least. likely chances it fixes it %90 if its not malware damages.
You always rely only on the top search result? I find that to be a self defeating proposition. No search engine knows what I really need, that’s why multiple results are returned; it’s up to the user to do a little digging for that one result (or maybe more than one) that fits his situation best. That means going to other pages, opening various sites and picking and choosing what best suits your needs. Seldom is the “top search result” what I need. But as is the usual case, YMMV.
Does it work on Windows 10? The process takes long to follow. I have only used it on Windows 7 and it took long time running scripts and asking me to take action at some points. It is not automated as well. I would suggest he goes for refresh of the OS and do package reinstallations.
i set it to reboot when done (usualy no interaction once i start repair) it does run dism most times for 8 and 10 so it does take 1 hr.
