Hello, i bought a new Acer Laptop and made a clean install on a new SSD with Windows 10 Pro 21H1 While checking the EFI Partition i found these files: \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\ kdnet_uart16550.dll kdstub.dll kd_02_10df.dll kd_02_10ec.dll kd_02_1137.dll kd_02_14e4.dll kd_02_15b3.dll kd_02_1969.dll kd_02_19a2.dll kd_02_1af4.dll kd_02_8086.dll kd_07_1415.dll kd_0C_8086.dll 10ec, 14e4, 8086 looks like Vendor ID's Does anyone know, why these files are in the EFI Partion? I googled already, but not found any hints. greetings Obelix
the kdnet_uart16550.dll file is part of the Microsoft Windows Operating System! Network Kernel Debug Serial Extensibility Module
theyre the kernel debugger communication dlls they look like vendor ids cos they r - each 1 is 4 a diffrent debug cable/connection method
Thanks! Can i delete these files? Why are these files created there in the first place? I did't install any debugging software. It is the first time, that i see such files in the EFI Partition. It is an fresh installed Acer Nitro 5 with GTA5, RDR2 and MSI Afterburner.
yeah but u'll lose boot time debug support they come with windos 10 & i think 8.x too by default windows has always had this boot time debugger but... win7 & earlier only supported serial (rs232) debugging iirc which is built rite into bootmgr so doesnt need these "drivers"
