I have dell latitude d630. Fresh install of w7 ultimate x86. (bios mod) System run smooth, no problems. BUT: When I disconect the AC adapter, the intel media graphics accelerator driver stop responding, and tryes to restore. It happen almost evry time. It wont restore eigther, so I end up with BSOD. After reboot evrything is fine again, until I unplugg ac adapter again. I tried to update driver, and install older driver, uninstall driver.. but, no luck.. Same problem when I use the driver from WU. I notice when i connect the ac adapter, screen goes black for 2 sec before all is normal, and the same when i disconect the adapter.. Black screen for 2 sec before desktop goes crazy The bios mod include slic 2,1 and no problem get activated. I wonder about the bios could be corrupted at some way, and this is causing the problem??? Its an A17 bios modded whit slic 2.1. Downloaded from another forum, because I couldnt tind it on MDL.
you can easily make your own SLIC 2.1 BIOS but anyway, have you tried disabling power saving? what about the function where it dims the screen on battery? on the D610, there is a setting in the BIOS for you to adjust the screen brightness when on AC and when on battery power are you also using any drivers (not just video) from dell?
That was really a strange problem you had there. I was about to say it was something hardware related but who could have guessed this huh? Glad it worked out for you!
well obviously the modder of that BIOS seriously screwed something up... I could've sworn I saw a D630 bios posted here long ago... but even if you can't get it, you can make it yourself like I already said download andyp's tools, RW everything, and you can make your own... I modded the D400 BIOS myself because no one made it (no one cares because that thing is below the system requirements and is pretty old now)... works perfectly and still running strong today since the D630 already has SLIC, a dynamic mod using andyp's tool shouldn't affect anything else... so like I said, wherever you got that BIOS from, the person who modded it clearly screwed it up! it's hard to trust other sources for things like these now, given MDL's continual user support, and reputation for providing reliable resources.... your experience reinforces the idea that I shouldn't really go anywhere else for things like these
