So i installed a Student edition of XP Pro with SP3 a year ago and of course Microsoft started blacklisting this version So I got screwed with updates validation fails on WMP/MS software etc. Is there a way to go from Pro Student Edition SP3 to OEM / Corp without reinstalling? Also which is better to use and why - OEM or Corp version? What is the best method available for beating the activation issue without hardmoding my motherboard?
Win XP Student Edition = Win XP Corporate You should be able to use any non-blacklisted Volume License Key.
I was under the impression that student editions don't need verification, I guess that is not true now. Thanks for the heads up!
When I run the Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool - under Validation Status it says "Geographically Blocked PID" which is correct given that MS is blocking Student Editions outside of the US. I'm using a desktop system that i built and it has an MSI motherboard. I don't have problems with flashing etc, but its just that I am not working right now so dont have money to get a new MB incase I screw anything up, so i'd rather not risk it and given that the system is 5 years old I'd rather not mess with it. I was just hoping there was a soft mod method like the Vista/7 act*vators. I have that old Windows Keygen which generates numbers for XP PRO, XP PRO VLK, SERVER 2003 VLK and OFFICE XP. If I generate a number with that would it be fine? In this particular Keygen, it has a Product ID range: 640-0 640-999999 What are the specific prefix numbers and ranges to get a valid VLK number?
