Stupid question but what is bios mod?

    Hi All,

    I'm going crazy here, but what is Bios Mod? And why do you modify bios?

    I've searched google, but nothing came up

    most people here who are modifying a bios are doing it to add a SLIC table which is used by windows activation. With a slic 2.1 table, matching certificate and key, windows does not require activation with microsoft.

    I'm curious to know too, is it difficult to mod my own bios, those tools link such as amitools contain viruses.

    which AV do you use ? KIS 2011 and MSE reported clear download.
    Bios Mods also needed to erase white-list. Some system "blocked" hardware peripherals (which not on "their" list) such as, WWAN PCI, harddisk etc.... modding will pass those limitation
