Stupid question I think but...

    What exactly is a loader? (as in Vista Loader or Win7 Loader)

    Read the Windows 7 respository. It's a grub based bootloader to emulate a SLIC table, to activate Windows ala OEM SLP

    So basically you can take any version of Windows 7 and thanks to the loader it'll activate it as if OEM and use Windows 7 forever?

    not any version :p it excludes enterprise

    any other version should activate

    Oh I see :)

    But how does it work exactly, does it screw around with files, put spyware, change anything important?

    Basically it adds a slic into the acpi.

    Oh great thanks really :)

    One more question, how come Microsoft hasn't done anything to stop this from working (given we can activate Windows Update)

    if you get the loader from here it wont put spyware in.

    removeWAT and chewwga messes with system files

    the daz loader puts a grub bootloader in to add a "fake" slic table into memory.

    there is also a driver based loader ( secr9tos should be able to help with that )

    acpi is a table in bios. slic is another table that holds the licensing information for windows..

    From what I read here, the best is Windows 7 Loader v1.7.7r

    Well for a lot of people a bios mod is too risky so Daz loader is your best chance for a "safe" activation. Btw.. my driver works too but I don't recommend it since ( for now ) it has no feature to hide itself from the OS or any file scanner but I'm working on it:D.

    I mean my driver ( oem-drv64.sys or oem-drv86.sys ) here on mdl. What should m$ stop?? this forum??

    Useless if u ask me, people will find other creative ways of activating windows anyway
