The download link doesn't seem to work. BTW, is this a Phoenix bios? How you mod it?

Got it, and flashed it onto my motherboard. Works like a charm.

    EDIT: Original post removed.

Turns out there are actually two 828's, one from 2007 and one from 2008.

The latest beta-BIOS for this board is therefore 828 with a date of 08/28/2008.

The latest non-beta is 604 with a date of 06/04/2008.

All the others are from 2007 and betas, except for 216, which is the only non-beta made in 2007.

You have to extract the individual components from the BIOS file first.

You can do this quite effortlessly with AwardTool. Just start the program, load the BIOS file, then click on the button in the lower right corner. (It has a * on it.) This will dump the BIOS into a folder named 'DUMP'. When its done open that folder, then open the file 'R69AM828.BIN' in your favorite hex app and you will find the date at 0x1EC70 (can also be 0001EC70, depending on how your app shows it) and/or down at the end in the very last line.

hmm, I've found that this beta version of bios is actualy not from 2007 but it is from 2008 and newer than 604 version, see my screenshot.

I can't find "2007" string anywhere in this beta bios, could it be possible that you may tested some older beta version?

i'm also uploading my dumped bin file, can you check it with your hex editor also so we can confirm?

I just did some checking and i think i have found the answer to this mystery; Biostar has actually made two 828's, one in 2007 and one in 2008.

(Which goes to show that their way of naming the revisions is not very clever.)

The reason why i got confused is this: Since i have downloaded all BIOSes for this board some time ago (i have 14 in total) i did of course not download 828 another time since i myself was always under the impression that only one 828 exists. After all, who would think that a mainboard manufacturer actually releases two different BIOSes with the exact same description...normally something like this is beyond unlikely. To verify that this was not just an error on my part check the attached screenshot. As you can see, the 'Modified' section of the .BST itself clearly shows that the BIOS was created 08/28/2007. And we have already seen the same 08/28/2007 date in the BIN as well.

So yes, the 828 you have is in deed from 2008. And so are all the 828's on the Biostar sites now. (I checked.) Therefore my sincere apologies for the confusion i caused, and of course a big thank you for showing me that screenshot without which i wouldnt have investigated this any further. Knowing that there is in deed an 828 of 2008 i will probably flash it myself now.

As for the BIN you attached; since you have already modded it it doesnt match the hash of the original BIN anymore, but the date is definitely 08/28/2008, just like the ones that are now on the Biostar sites...

great, you're very thorough in your investigation ;) i wish you and all users of this great mainboard happy flashing, of course, for experimental and scientific purposes only :p
