Hard to say what’s “best” for someone else not knowing their intended use, budget and etc. Usually I go to several vendor sites and read the user reviews. In my experience people are pretty honest in their assessments.

As is the usual case, no HDD is anywhere near perfect. If I see a drive that gets, say, a combined 70%-80% Excellent and Good, I consider that a pretty good item to purchase. But even then, the 20%-30% who said the drive was bad have their reasons. It’s a crap shoot at best. Buy quality, keep backups and always have a data recovery plan. And if you're planning to keep a massive amount of data on that one drive, you need a really good recovery plan.

Generally, I suggest you choose Seagate Desktop HDD series. But if you have enough budget, Seagate NAS Series is better.

WD all the way here, too many bad experiences with other brands like Seagate.
