so i am using this pc from 5 years with following specs

amd fx 6100 CPU (6 cores , 6 threads @3.3 Ghz , turbo 3.8 Ghz), gigabyte 78LMTS2 mobo with AMD 760G chipset and ATI 3000 HD graphics, 8 Gb DDR3 ram.

system is running fairly good with windows 7 64-bit. i can do multi tasking like listening audio, browsing internet, chat to people, edit a word doc etc. movie watching is fantastic experience but when it comes to modern 3D games that released after 2008 , my graphics suck. but all small games and old 8-bit emulator games work great.

right now i got no trouble with pc. but my nephew raised a question what if this old pc die suddenly? so he suggested to back to intel. select atleast core i5 6th generation like intel 6600 cpu

after 3 days vigorous research i selected intel core i5-7600k (released this year 2017) and Asrock B250M Pro mobo and 16 Gb DDR4 hyperx fury RAM

i am not big gamer. i usually watch movies and surf internet. this new upgrade plan will cost around 500$ ( 32000 indian rupees).

if i select new AMD RYZEN 5 1600 cpu and corresponding B350 chipset mobo from AsRock with same 16 GB DDR4 ram cost will be around 430 $ ( 28000 indian rupees).

my question is that whether i need upgrade or not? if yes which config i must choose ? core i5-7600k or Ryzen 1600.

or if don't need upgrade at all. i am not serious for upgrade. :)

i went through that comparison and read many other websites saying intel is better than amd old and new cpus. i thought of upgrading my 6 year old pc to new pc since it may die any day. heard intel is manufacturing new kind of cpu next year that is faster than all existing ones. at that time it is better to upgrade to i5 7600k or something similar.

yes i read about optane memory technology too on intel website where processor specifications wrote. i want to choose that sort of cpu and mobo only. i watched that video link you gave and understood science behind it. its not 270 but it is 250 chipset. yes i gone through all B250 chipset boards of ASUS, ASROCK and Gigabyte and liked Asrock B250M Pro board. not too costly, safe and secure.
