Suggestion: hash, checksum

    for file uses sha1 is still viable. However I do agree Sha2 should be implemented for many things very soon.

    There's a software.The name is hashmyfiles.It can check MD5 SHA1 and others.Are there better softwares online?

    I like hashcheck for the shell extension to make CRC32, MD4, MD5, and SHA1 files on the fly. I use hashtab for checking SHA1 mostly because it is the fastest checksum utility on my system. It zips through the SHA1 faster than anything else Ive used.

    7zip beta also has a nice hash option, in explorer context menu.

    To the best of my knowledge, Hashtab can only check hashes, not generate them. That's what I'm using Hashcheck for.

    For commandline, there's the hashdeep program.
