Support for Windows 7 ends today on April 9, 2013. That means no more security updates so if you want updates, upgrade to Windows 8 now.

The only support that is ending today is windows 7 without sp1. So all you have to do is to install sp1 for windows 7 - support continues and no need to upgrade to windows 8 :D

So, what happens for XP, could easy happens to first Vista, follows by Windows 7!

Fact is that the changes by Microsoft within the last ½ to 1 year are being unpredictable.

funny thing is .. vista sold so badly with poor reception that MS had to remake it as windows 7 shortly 2 yrs later.. that itself shows MS desperation.
they could have fixed vista with sp2 but noo they had to make 7. a whole new name same crap with a few fixes.

no brainer here, they wanted more money
and its easier to get it on "new fresh product" than on something that got bad bad reviews
beside terrible vista performance gave them reason to make "new" product

they ain't getting money on service packs
and now with this new enforced rule of max 1 or 2 SP's and 2 year cycle for new brand
they ensured yet again to force (stupid) people to buy new new new version while older one gets support cut off MUCH earlier
