I am surprised no one here seems to care about Small Business Server 2011 Essentials. My understanding is that it is very similar to Windows Home Server 2011 with the same PC backup feature as WHS 2011.

I don't know all the differences, but I think the two big ones are the ability to join a domain and 25 users instead of the 10 user limit on WHS 2011.

Anyway, it hit MSDN and Technet today along with it's siblings, WHS 2011 and (MSDN only) Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials.

Windows Storage Server Essentials 2008 R2 Embedded (x64) is, unfortunately, MSDN only. It will never be on Technet.

Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials is on Technet right now for download, but it's not giving any product keys. I have no idea what is up with that. I have never seen a product, that needs a key, show up on Technet to download without giving keys at the same time.

I have confirmed, a product key is needed for Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials. But... the keys are still not on Technet (or MSDN apparently). Just one more in a long series Technet screwups by Microsoft.
