I wonder if this is possible? I have a Compaq CQ60 (BIOS is already modded for SLIC2.1) and the touchpad's stupid tap-to-click feature just kills me everytime I'm booting from a utility CD or rescue disc or what-have-you. I don't really think there's any way to load the Synaptics driver dynamically (it's a huge software suite with dumb toys by now), so I wonder if tap-to-click can be disabled directly from the BIOS with some kind of mod?
you need install correct touch pad driver, I guess Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad is the CQ60, then you can choose disable or enable the tap features from mouse setting. wrong touch pad driver installing, like Alps touchpad or other touch, won't allow to change the setting, like tap, etc... I think there isn't option from bios to change touchpad detail setting, guess only enable or disable touchpad, for some laptops.
