Can anyone explain to me this:"%systemroot%\widows\system\ver.dll" ? What if I set it to ”read-only"? Will this do any harm to my system. Thank you. Any help will be appreciated.

The ver.dll library is required for Windows to function correctly,
ver.dll is flagged as a system process and does not appear to be a security risk. However, removing Version Checking and File Installation may adversely impact your system

why would you want to change it to read-only anyway?

Thank you, I'm using a cracked software. And there is a batch within setting ver.dll to read-only. So it's risky to use this way?
