That Legislation isn't invented nor added by Microsoft! That was simply done by an US American Government Authority!!

Under such light: How sure we could be that the insertion of that bad apps in Windows, are not also forces by such Government? At least, it would give a lot to think about that!

Just we all should think about the Snowden affair and on how many countries and states the US Government had spied for a long time already!!

    Matters.

The Android core is opensource, you can use an android smartphone w/o any google application or service installed.

There is an huge amount custom roms that comes w/o any google app preinstalled, and you can easily remove them from stock roms.

Also some android phones aren't backed by Google at all, especially in countries other than western ones.

Using an useless W10 phone w/o any MS SW isn't exactly straight forward...:D

Maybe you have problem to understand that the vast majority of the users aren't living in the US not to mention the NY state alone.

Maybe the day we will have the united federation of the planets, and the earth will be ruled by a single entity a decision taken in NY will be something of very interesting.

For now is just a curiosity.

There seems to be telemetry for two main reasons.

Of course governments want to spy on everyone and keep big files on everyone. They do this through telemetry, weak security with built in flaws (many put there on purpose) and tapping into service provider traffic and recording it.

Businesses just want to collect everything they can on you to sell you something. Or to not sell you something if you are a bad health, car or property insurance risk.

Telemetry means power, control and money.

So isn't such a news that any entity that can use it want's to use it.

Add the general ignorance about it to the mix and you get a single ansewr: it's already a lost war, the hope is to win some battles, but the war is lost.

Indeed I said that the war is lost not the battle. Many battles can be win, and the final surrender can be surely delayed.

Don't know too many people walking around with a copy of their Document folder on their smart phone as per MS W10 Eula. People who do banking or put out personal info while on their phones...... very risky behavior imo. So the argument that attempts too justify the W10 privacy and of smart phone usage is weak.

"France joins the Netherlands in saying no to cryptographic backdoors"

I am sorry to say but this sounds to me like nothing but a pure political statement with absolutely no content.

Companies like M$ still can realize what they want and cooperates with the NSA.
Neither France nor the Netherlands have done something against it. The ‘evil’ comes via OTA. (OverTheAir updates)

The 3 US giants will continue to dismantle our privacy step by step.
Encryption which is provided as a built-in feature and comes from the US is already compromised since one has to assume that the private keys have been shared with the NSA already.

Self do, self have! One has to make efforts and only then it is possible to encrypt data safely.

If you think that one's country's 'no' will make built-in encryption safe then you are naive.
