I have to been offered a reasonable used desktop, whose speccs would suit me well.
How can I test it before buying?
Is there a diagnostic software I can burn to a CD or install on a USB stick, that anyone can recommend?

As I have software to check an HDD, I assume there is a complete package?

    Thanks

    Stress-test it.
Since you already have the software for HDD testing,

    Prime95 for CPU.
    MemTest86+ for RAM.
    Furmark for the GPU.
DPT (Dead Pixel Tester) for the monitor.

and a good 2-hour movie for the DVD-ROM. :sharepopcorn:
