so obviously it was temporary only, luck you

 

temporary means that it seemed to have happened only for a short period of time shortly after having installed the office suite and then normalized itself

 

Hardware performance check is still there, but has no GUI in 8.x.

Installing office uses your hard drives a fair bit. You might check to make sure you have sufficient airflow.

 

Hard drives cause heat when in use. If you don't move the heat out of your case, it will build up.
