Considering that I have been retired from technet and I do not want to pay for cloud based OS in the future, a key purchase may now be no longer a valid option for me. So I will definitely follow this thread.
Done and added. This is going to be a lot of typing lol Staff is also reviewing it at the moment. We are going to look at all the activation methods.
I guess based on the profile of many people here, perhaps most can afford a evaluation version in `the Milkyway Galaxy' and reinstall each time it expires. Does that not qualify as a valid tool to keep on using the OS for free in perpetuity. You will lose on some features and will have to live with watermarks. But with win 8.1, even with activation, people have to live with a newfangled secureboot watermark. One more watermark will not make a diff.
O Psh Pash here in the Milkyway Galaxy we live with simply glitching stuff out to suit our needs haha. I actually use Genuine on my computers at the moment. @ Thread: This will take some time to build as there is a lot of information to compress.
Dear Smorgan I was just having a good time with no offence to you at all. Please forgive me if I did. The weekend mood of fun is already upon us in India. Enough of the fun from my side as then this thread will go completely off-track.
I use linux now because I don't give Microsoft a damn s_h_i_t after destroyed my technet retired due to product keys had been piracy all over all the place which I never did - only for myself, we know that Microsoft is telling loads of rubbish and it seem they had no interest heart for us all now.
Ok here is the game plan. First up is explaining all the activation methods. Then we will dig into the Activation infrastructure aka this will mean describing the system used on Windows today by looking at the history of it. Be forewarned we are not going to dig into individual files as I don't want people trying to make their own tools. Also we are diving straight in there will be times where people do not understand what I'm talking about. This will be the 2nd long thread for this go. No worries Actuya hehe
I'll handle that right now as its pretty easy to explain why you can't Activate with Windows 8.1 at the moment.
I am stuck with a non activated copy and it will not accept my free Win 8 MCE key (was activated so not expired).
OK. Now that 8.1 has been generally released and we can monitor how exactly the activation works, how likely is it for a 8.1 KMS activation method to appear in the coming weeks? These host keys that are so much needed - won't they be much easier to get obtained now that 8.1 is freely available to the public?
monitoring how to activate .... ? What are you monitoring? You are monitoring some genius ppl thinking about that stuff, nothing more though. Be prepared that it will take quite some time until any useful versions will be available and don't dream on a tomorrow base ...
