Hi all, Like the title says, I am currently running Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, version 1709, OS-build 16299.309 it reads in the Settings app. My problem is that my web passwords, which was originally saved by Microsoft Edge doesn't synchronize back to my two computers (my desktop and laptop). What's even more strange to me is that my Samsung Galaxy S8, with Edge installed on it, does synchronize all of my saved web passwords just fine, but my computers doesn't? That doesn't make much sense to me... I'm afraid. I have been in Contact with Microsoft (Answer Desk) in the past because of this issue, which I start to believe is a bug. As far as I can remember, this "bug" was not present in the Creators Update (1703). But it certainly seem to be in Fall Creators Update. Any help, suggestions or explanation is greatly appreciated! EDIT (March 30, 2018): I am using the very same Microsoft account on all my devices, still only my favorites synchronizes completely.
Yes. I forgot to mention that. I am using the very same Microsoft account on all my devices. Sadly, only my favorites seem to sync perfectly. My themes (colors, desktop background etc.) won't sync at all either, along with my web passwords remaining blank. The favorites is all that synchronizes at all, to my knowledge.
that is not full prove....i seen it sync in some boxes and not in other i dont think it has anything to do with Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.
It does not work. Only solution is to install previous version then upgrade. Apparently the feature is deprecated so they wouldn't even bother fixing it.
Passwords are syncronized after PC is verified in Settings. At least in Windows I'm using - LTSB 2016.
Like I said it does not work after fall 2017 creators update to restore passwords. That's a fact. OP you can install the spring 2017 update then it will restore your passwords. That is what I did as a work around. Anything after the fall 2017 update will not restore passwords if you do a clean install. Another option is to import saved passwords from another browser.
I am running Windows 7, Home Premium right now. Also running Firefox as web browser. I don't feel the need of apps on my computer (that is my primary stance to not using Windows 8 or newer). Windows 7 works perfectly fine for me, and Firefox account synchronization works a treat
Have u verified all your passwords in all your machines? I never had any issues with password using my MS account, also the comp giving issues are u running any third party software like a antivirus or a registry optimizer anything like that u should remove it, that mite be causing the problem.
This issue occurs if you do a clean install with the fall creators update and up. Passwords will not restore to the new device. If you doubt it then go ahead and try for yourself. Microsoft is replacing sync in a future update.
Not talking about synchronizing with computers and neither was the OP. Anyway I am done with this thread.
*BUMP* I guess I'll just ignore this "bug" and hope that Microsoft fixes it. Hopefully, the Spring Creators Update will fix it.
It did not. Install an older version of Windows 10 and it will restore the passwords. I think the sync still works but just wouldn't restore them on a new install. The feature is no longer being updated and will be replaced at some point.
I'll stick with the Fall Creators Update for now though. My passwords seem to synchronize just fine between my desktop and laptop at the moment. Although my desktop has a new problem now. I get weird colors and all kinds of strange of ugly graphics on my screen. After all, my desktop is eight years old (got it for christmas eve in 2010). I believe it is sadly singing on its last verse...
I gave this another shot and it restored passwords but it takes a little long to occur. It idnt happen immediately. So it does work.
Hooray! All of my passwords are synchronized on my computer with the April 2018 Update! I will close this case now. Solution: Install the April 2018 Update of Windows 10.
