It just became super popular in the Windows 10 forum. Al Gore and I dont need it though ed- btw, I installed it and set it to paranoid. Opened Chrome and went to a website. THEN the firewall said, hey Chrome wants to access the internet... Just a little slow eh? LOL
Hmm... interesting. Usually I don't mind the telemetry, just want to be able to temporarily stop Windows from hogging my bandwidth if I need the bandwidth for other things. My laptop was giving me trouble - I suspected a virus - so I wanted to download rescue CDs on my desktop to use on my laptop. Was really annoyed that instead of downloading the stuff I needed URGENTLY, the desktop was downloading Windows updates. I was like a man possessed - killing Windows services willy-nilly - but they kept coming back.
Noted its existence for possible future consideration. But while it’s new, it should be treated a beta software-wise and as suspect security-wise. And a firewall is too important a system utility to do acrobatics with. Let’s give it time to get over the “beta” phase, prove free of malware, while we wait for independent reports as regards performance.
it seems to react a bit slow as in my post above, maybe its something with it and Server 2016 dunno. But I still get traffic coming and going before it gets off its butt and asks if it get access. After that it stops the traffic.. but a little late. A lot could pass through in that span of time.
As usual, this thread is rapidly degenerating into a general discussion of firewalls, with each participant proposing his personal preference – and I’m not claiming I am excluded from this tendency here or anywhere else. So for over 10 years while on XP, I was using the excellent Agnitum Outpost, for me the best around at the time. But now it’s been taken over and probably no longer developed. Now on Windows 10, unlike its lacking Windows Defender, its firewall is good and you don’t really need a third party product.
I've been wanting to mention that, but its missing bells and whistles like paranoid setting and popup balloons. Everyone likes balloons
