Has anyone else had probs installing these? Checked for updates and it said their were 15.....downloaded and installed but it came up an said 5 were unsuccesslful . kb2809289, kb2824670, kb2790907, kb2811660, kb2812822. I wouldn't mind if I didn't get them (as I don't use I.E. anyway) but whenever I shut down the PC, it says 'please wait while we install 5 updates'.....goes thro' the routine but next time I start up it's the same '5 updates available' ??? TIA for any info on how to resolve this.
8 Updates for Windows 8 unchecked at default: KB2807986 KB2781197 13 Updates for Office 2013, all checked 315 MB in total. Downloading and installing now.
Recent monthly patches from MS have become more in number and hugely more in size. Surprisingly for a software released only recently (Office 2013), the number of updates now exceed 40. If you keep offline installers for these, the total download exceeds 1GB which is more than the RTM installer. I downloaded the March 2013 x64 updates for win 7, win 8, office 2010, office2013, plus malicious software and silverlight and they cross 600 MB. This did not include a perhaps 400 MB visio viewer update for office 2013. I preferred to get it done thru windows update which was 20 MB perhaps. This trend has been there for at least 3-4 months. Patches prior to that were more manageable. What does this mean?? Has (1) MS become more active and patching everything (2) their recent work (office 13 or win 8) has been sloppy and hurried and they are correcting it on the go.
there is something called scripts not to mention that all updates can be installed with one command-line
That's true! Still need to manually download and also create the Script or key in the command in Interpreter. That's not timeless!
I had the same problem, it just required a reboot between updates took 3 reboots in all to add all of the updates, I assume files were in use at the time or they were just unable to be modified.
