Hi, I can't get the in-place upgrade to work from Enterprise 1803 to LTSC - the option "Keep personal files and apps" is greyed out, regardless of what I choose in the license switcher. What am I missing here?

Make sure the LTSC ISO has same architecture and language as your Enterprise install.

It's recommended to use an ei.cfg file for Upgrades:
    Code:
    [EditionID]
    EnterpriseS
    [Channel]
    _Default
    [VL]
    0

Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...

This upgrade path is not supported. Please close Setup and re-launch from the root of the media or go back and pick a different installation choice.
I think I understand what I did wrong - I was working with the unarchived iso file and install.wim, used the same folder as a work folder. Downloaded and selected a clean iso file, selected EnterpriseS and UP_DOWN_PROCESS, pressed Switch and selected a new clean folder as a work directory. Then it seems to be working fine, didn't try the upgrade itself but I'll report if anything goes unexpected. Thank you for the help. :)

Hello to everybody in this great thread and especially to @s1ave77 . I need to switch from the LTSC version of Enterprise 1809 ( and actually fully updated) to the normal version of Enterprise, the non LTSC, to be able to use Windows mixed reality. I would like to keep all software and drivers installed in my system and I would like to know if I can use the switcher to do this. Using the switcher in the license switching Tab, selecting Enterprise and UPDOWN PROCESS, I get this info about my actual system and checking the Iso that I would like to use to install the new Enterprise version of win10, that has the same language of the system installed now,

I think there are 2 problems here that are

11:36:26 Channel doesnt match VL Value!
    11:36:26 NOTE: No EditionID found.

to solve those problems should I change the actual content of EI.CFG that is

    [Channel]
    volume
    [VL]
    1

    with this?

    [EditionID]
    Enterprise
    [Channel]
    _Default
    [VL]
    0

To do this change in EI.CFG should I copy the iso content in a folder and after the change make the setup start from that folder? Can I start the setup from the folder with the new EI.CFG using the switcher, and if yes how? Or I just need to double click on the setup file in that folder, but in this case if I don’t use the switcher can I keep the installed software and files? Do I need to create an bootable USB or the Upgrade process of the system will take alle the file needed from my Hdd from the folder where the iso is or from the folder where I did copy the iso content with the new EI.CFG, also in case of automatic reboot of the system during the upgrade? Thanks in advance to everybody will help me.

Normally the tool will copy the ISO to a folder and create the ei.cfg. Needs to use the Up_Down_Process from the mode-drop-down menu. After setting the reg-entries it will then start setup.exe.

So if I understand what I read in the OP correctly, then this will let me permanently upgrade Home to Enterprise, for example?

though I think you can do an in-place upgrade from LTSC 2019 to 1809 Enterprise and keep existing files and apps. I seemed to have done that a few weeks back on a test machine

Before it wasn't so obvious, you had to modify the registry, now it can be done by simple ISO inplace upgrade, no registry modification needed anymore.

Other development is that you now can go from Home to whatever sku (ltsc probably excepted), just by changing the productkey, before you needed to first upgrade to Pro and next do a license switch to the other sku's.

All good, but how can one switch from Enterprise to LTSC without losing installed software?
Is there any known method other then reinstalling in place and reinstalling all software?

This is probably what the tool of this thread does to achieve the down/upgrade.

After i showed you can simply inplace upgrade from ltsc to normal enterprise, you asked me if a simple inplace upgrade from normal enterprise to ltsc will work and keeping all files and apps, i showed it didn't work and advised to use the tool, next you don't use the tool but the conclusion is to use the tool...

    Hello Guys!
I'd like to upgrade an activated Win 10 Home OEM to Win 10 Pro Retail. I've the key for that.
As I understood well, this tool would be the perfect solution for me.
I've red the thread from the beginning and happy expert users are here mainly, but I am novice one and I did not get how could I process the upgrade.
Is there anywhere a "manual" or "how to" where I could figure out how could I change the licence to cheat Windows to start an installing over Home and do a Windows repair and finally get a "repaired" Pro..?
    Thank You! :)
