Let's start by writing down your computer's exact details, i.e. name, release date, what operating system it was released with, what operating system it is currently running, what BIOS version it was released with, what BIOS version it is currently running, what version you want to update to, if there are intermediate versions, are they all installed?
Also, where did you download these BIOS updates from and have you personally installed BIOS updates before. Only then will we start talking further.
The reason is that updating the BIOS is not the same as updating regular programs, and many have sent their computers to its final journey by installing BIOS updates carelessly and incompetently.
You need to know very precisely what you have and what or how you want to do for next.
If you make a mistake with the BIOS update, it may remain the last BIOS update on this device at all and for ever.

It's a Toshiba Satellite C660 2CG with win 7 32bit. It was bios version 1.4 I managed to update to 1.5 but for 1.7 I get the same error as above. My end goal would be to upgrade windows from usb. At 1.5 I dont have the uefi option and the other method doesnt work.

I haven't dealt with Toshiba, but I can't find the website where all the BIOSes for this device are available. It is possible that 1.7 is not suitable for your specific version and then you cannot install it. It usually happens with old devices that they no longer receive updates, or rather, the possibility of installing on older devices is blocked in newer versions.
If you can, please provide the address of the site where all BIOSes, drivers, and controllers for this pc/laptop version are available, then things will become clearer for both me and you.
