i got the file from this thread. BIOS Mod Requests. post# 16206 now could someone explain (not) how to flash because the instructions are in that file after i unrared it. im talking about do i need to put any files on the HDD before i try to activate online? like the slic or cert or anything like that or does just flashing it do everything i need and i then just enter the key? what i am wanting to do is have my bios flashed so i really dont need to put any files on the hdd at all. is this possible? i dont see any guides on this. thanks here is what i mean. i have had a FEW laptops and desktops there were NOT home built and were like from dell/sony/toshiba and I ALWAYS wipe the hdd and do a fresh install of the OS that came with it and use the key on the bottom of laptop or back of desktop and it installs and activates fine. i do not have to put any slic or cert or any file like that i just have to pick/install the exact windows that came with the laptop that the key goes to on back of desktop or bottom of laptop is this the same way with the bios mod? i mean does the bios mod only allow me to install one type of windows flavor/version? like starter/home/pro/premium etc... or does the bios allow them all and i just need the correct key? how does this work? thanks
slic in bios.. cert and key match to slic.. done esy way out.. slic toolkit 3.2 if it says v2.1 at bottom and u have no botloaders faking slic... youre ready to run OPATool or DAZ Windows Loader (it install cert and key no bootloader if it sees slic 2.1) from USB dos bootable phlash16 bd3a3a43.wph /x /mode=3 /pn
with my toshiba laptop`s (two of them) and no bios mod (only stock) i do a complete Format and then i do a Fresh install from a vista x64 DVD i pick the OS each laptop came with in the vista x64 selection screen one laptop came with vista x64 home basic one laptop came with vista x64 home premium i then used the keys on the bottom of laptop on the sticker and i never installed any cert or anything like that and they both activate with no problem. i want to flash the bios so i dont have to install a cert (i just want the bios to be good for windows 7 home premium x64bit) and use a key to activate. i dont want to have to install a cert if that is possible
Ran SLIC 3.2 on both my Laptops AND my Desktop (home built) i ran slic 3.2 on all three computers and here are the results: Desktop = SLIC Table not found (this makes sense as it is a home built) and i purchased win7 premium upgrade dvd (retail green box) Laptop #1 = SLIC 2.1 and is Green but Cert = RED but it is validated and i always do FRESH / CLEAN install of vista x64 home basic (from my original vista x64 dvd) where it lets you pick what you want to install) Laptop #2 = SLIC 2.0 and is Green But Cert = RED but it is validated and i always do FRESH / CLEAN install of vista x64 home premium (from my original vista x64 dvd) where it lets you pick what you want to install) so what i am getting at is none of these computers ever get a cert installed and they always validate the desktop computer is basically done as it has win7 activated the two laptops i would like to be able to do the same thing (just mod the bios for windows 7) and then install windows 7 (hopefully home premium 64bit) on both laptops and then (enter some key) and validate i dont want to have to install certs everytime. thanks
why are both my oem latpops activating with no cert then? both are toshiba`s with stock bios (slic 2.1 and slic 2.0) and i can do fresh/clean installs of vista home basic and vista home premium respectively and both activate over net.
Simple because you activated over the net using OEM:COA key from the laptop if you use certificate and OEM:SLP key you pre-activate i,e, without internet. Also you can make up OEM:SLP dvd and it will pre-activate when installing windows no need to manually install certificate and key.
ok so all i need is to get my modded bios files found on these forums and a couple COA keys and i wouldnt need to isntall certs ever right? the COA keys just need to match the bios file?
yea i read at that link and understood it. i guess what i am not understanding is why would i want to add a cert to my install when my current clean/fresh installs activate fine with no cert installed. i do not use the original restore discs so if this works (and it does) i have 3 computers that work great (activate over net just fine) then why would i want to install a cert to my hdd that is where i am confused
ok i been doing some reading and found that this is not true. i.e.: A+B+C = Vista Activated Offline OEM SLP Key + OEM Certificate + Full SLIC Table = Vista Activated Offline If one (A,B or C) is missing, activation will fail! <<<< B is missing on both my toshiba laptops and i activate everytime and again this is not true OEM COA Keys: * OEM COA keys (Certificate of Authentication) are regular OEM keys that require activation, either by phone or online and they are not brand specific. (you will find the sticker with the key underneath you Laptop or on the side of you PC) * These keys will work in general same as Retail or Upgrade keys and can be used only once. <<<<i activate my toshibas over and over some times 5x in one night (because i restore my images with acronis) and if i dont include disk signature when i create my images then i have to activate whenever i restore that image with my desktop retail upgrade and COA i bet i have activated that like 40x anyhow i would think use the COA method unless of course you dont have internet or if ms wants you to phone them to activate because you have activated to many times but i assure you i am one of those people who install / format and install again ALOT never had to verify if i were to chose not to use any cert all (which is really what im probably going to do) its been working all this time why change it now. would i look for a specific SLIC and specific COA? im really confused still because it says if any of those 3 parts are missing windows will not activate. so how is it that i have no cert but i have an oem bios (stock) and i have an oem COA key and it activates when it says i can not activate if im missing any of the parts like the cert? do i only need the COA key to match my BIOS if i want to use my "Windows 7 retail upgrades DVDs (32bit or 64bit) to install what do i need to do to my bios since i do not want to use a cert
You still don't get it do you i.e.: A+B+C = Vista Activated Offline you are not activating Offline you are activating over the internet. Any way back to you original question if you want to Install any version of windows 7 you can do it on the laptop with slic 2.1 but you need to use a certificate and OEM:SLP key the same applies to your other laptop with slic 2.0 you can install any version of vista but you will need bios mod to add slic 2.1 or use Daz loader if you want to install windows 7 now perhaps you see the advantage of using SLP: activation. Another point is if you had used SLP: activation for windows 7 on laptop with slic 2.1 and installed say home premium you can use windows anytime upgrade to upgrade to ultimate just by using windows 7 ultimate OEM:SLP key no need to do fresh installation.
i followed this thread quite a while back and have windows 7 home premium working perfect with the bios i got from this forum for all this time and through all windows updates i was just wondering if someone has made a guide or specific instructions on how to do it with windows 8 and which windows 8 i would need to get to make it work with this same laptop "Toshiba Satelite P305D-S8995E" thanks for any help and thanks to the person or people who made it work so great with windows 7
