My laptop is around 3 years old and I didn't expect any more major support for it. Low and behold in December Toshiba released a new BIOS to fix a bug in the S4 sleep state and this bios ALSO included SLP2.1 baby. Yup, that means the stock bios is now "pre-modded" for Windows 7 OEM! Mine came with Vista and was never even listed as being supported for W7 but still the upgrade came. I noticed multiple other laptops that mentioned SLP2.1 in a recent bios as well so if you have a Toshiba go take a look. Note: the SLP used was the different than the one in my original modded BIOS. So W7 came up as no longer genuine, but I was able to uninstall the license file and install the proper one after which it came up as genuine on a restart. Oddly enough, all of the programs like SlicReport said everything was fine abd matching (while windows said it wasn't genuine) for some reason the programs were reporting the TOSCQI lic file was installed while I had the TOSINV lic file installed.
Since there are EIGHT pages of new bioses I went through the pages and these are the ones that mention Toshiba adding SLP2.1: Toshiba Models: Satellite M640/M645 Satellite L670D/L675D Satellite L675 Qosmio X505 (Says updaded APCI Slic Table, doesn't say what version) Satellite/Satellite Pro U405/M305 Satellite/Satellite Pro U400/U405 Satellite/Satellite Pro U400/U405 and M300/M305 Satellite Pro S300L (Says added Windows 7 support, may mean SLIC 2.1 added not sure) So if you have one of the above models (these should include ALL of the sub models ie M300-S4071) meaning there are likely up to 100 models that got SLIC 2.1 tables added.
Doe you have a url for these bios upgrades? I have a M300 but can't seem to find what you are referring to. Thanks
