What's the deal with the fully free no proprietary stuff. Some hardware needs that proprietary firmware to function. Driver for my WiFi card are in the kernel since 5.2 but needs the proprietary firmware to function, some distros does not ship with it by default and you have to download it but it would suck if it was not available. Also nouveau driver is not as good as the proprietary nvidia driver so most people use nvidia driver.
