Hi, So I have Asus Zenbook UX302LG. I am using USB 2.0 LG GP50 portable dvd-drive. I downloaded the MSDN windows 8.1 update x64 iso and burnt it at 6x speed through imgburn. Problem is, when I get to the windows 8 installation screen, it gives me "missing dvd-drive from usb/media" etc. I tried Windows 7 sp1 x64 same issue. I don't know how to resolve it. Please help! my Asus laptop has usb 3.0 ports only.
Try using Rufus (1.4.7 the newest, I believe) to put the ISO on USB flash. A great program, many satisfied users here.
Best would be to create an USB bootable stick with that ISO. You could use Rufus for to burn the ISO to the USB Stick and boot from that to start the installation.
Thank you all for the suggestion. I am gonna look into doing that. However, I spent $30 on this dvd drive , so just feel very disappointed. Is this a windows issue? There is no way I can use the dvd drive to install windows ?
I tried using rufus and used usb 2.0 sticks I have of 4gb and 16gb. I tried win 7 x64 sp1 on 4gb. My laptop won't recognize it. I tried it with Win 8.1 update 1 x64 on 16GB, same issue. My Asus ultrabook has usb settings : pre-xHCi boot <<< tried it with enabled and disabled. It still didn't recognize it. There is the legacy usb support, which is enabled. Also, there is CSM option that is also enabled.
