I hope someone can answer this question for me. I recently bought an HP laptop, with Win7. Of course, the first thing I did was do a clean install of Win7 Ultimate, thinking that I would use one of the OEM keys. This didn't work. It accepted the key, but still gave the "30 days" notice. My question is, Why? Shouldn't it already have a slic and cert installed? What am I missing here?

... Typing this I just realized, there would be no cert installed. Which is why I'm guessing it failed. So in that case I would need to find the cert that matches the slic and install that? Am I on the right track here?

I hope that all made sense. Thanks lots for any help.

You formatted the disk and by doing so deleted the cert.

I think you could try Daz's loader 1.73 and use the Advanced settings. Use HP cert and load it.

if your laptop comes with win7, 99%, your laptop's bios is SLIC 2.1 ready.
but when u formatted your laptop, the certificate is gone with it.

so what you need to do is first, get HP certificate installed, then install any ultimate oem slp key. look at signature below for both certificate and key URL.

Thanks everyone! For some reason I was thinking the cert was part of the bios. Now I see the error of my ways. :) Thanks again and for the quick responses, I appreciate it. Randy.
