In June 2009 I was searching this forum for help with an XP problem where my computer was refusing to write TOMTOM data to an SD card. It kept on telling me that my SD card was "write protected" although I knew that it wasn't. It repeated the rejection for every other SD card that I tried too.

I came across a message where someone was able to alter a registry record so that USB related data could be changed if the registry entry :- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENT\CONTROLSETCONTROL
    had a zero instead of a '1'.

I've made a note of the fact that this gem was included in "TIP #110"

Unfortunately all other recollection of where the information came from has disappeared from my ancient memory, though my problem was completely solved when I applied the tip to my computer.

I'd like to access the information again please. Can anyone remember the occasion ? Alternately has the "Write protected" blockage received any other coverage in this forum ?

    TIA
