Hello there, i´m sort of a casual PC user so i don´t have that many technical skills, but here goes my problem.

Got a slic mod for my new Z77 extreme4-M motherboard. Got the latest version (i think) of the flash utility from ASROCK.
Made the flash drive with a usb device.
Put the roms in it (.30 files).
    Boot from USB.
Run flash.exe and got this message: Error 18 - Chipset/Flash isn't available. The function will be invalid.
Got another version of the flash utility (named ASRFLASH.EXE).
    Run it.
Now i get this message: DOS/4G Protected Mode Run-time version 2.01

Can anybody with me specific pointers as to how to get past this?

ANY help will be much appreciated.

    Best regards.-

    Thanks for the reply!

Did as explained and flashed the bios with latest version from the ASROCK website. Took about 25 secs. Went for the mod bios, but the instant flash utility doesn't seem to recognize the .30 extension, cause it only recognizes the original bios i downloaded (.50)

    Any ideas?

Rename the modded bios as SLIC.50 & try flashing from Instant Flash.

The instant flash utility doesn´t recognize the SLIC.50 file as a usable rom. Still only showing the official biod upgrade from ASR...

Just now also tried this one at hXXXp://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/33881-SLIC-mod-for-ASRock-Z77-Extreme4/page2?p=686668&viewfull=1#post686668
    xxx=tt
File extension .20, and .80, instant flash didn't recognize either one

That post redirects to post #11258 which is a Samsung NP-R428-DA03

    Is this correct?

    O.k. You have an ASRock Z77 Extreme4-M
Why not create an RW-Everything report (NO loaders or already modified bios is used!) -> See Tito's signature -> Get phoenixtool211 from andyp -> Download latest bios and mod it -> Manufacturer ASRock -> Method Module -> Should work for your model?

    io

if you aren't 100% confident with computers AND versed in bios flashing then you stand a good chance of bricking something
remember that if for some reason the flash doesn't take or you flash the incorrect or a badly modded bios you WILL brick the motherboard
and in your case thats means either taking it to a shop to have them re-flash it $$ or sending it to asrock for repair (good luck with that)
I would just install DAZ's loader and be done with it

Solved! Had a friend of mine write me a new mod, flashed it through instant flash (the mod was a .rom file). And with some work it restoring some windows files damaged by the RemoveWAT thingie, it worked.

ALthough Windows now says it's authentic, MSE sais it's authentic, SLIC check says its valid and so on, every now and then, i get that annoying popup that says it's not.

Thanx a lot for all the help!!!!
