Hey all I'm currently using Windows 10 build 9834 on my laptop as it doesn't have a timebomb, and runs pretty well. I'm running into an issue using any Chromium-based web browser (from Chromium ~76 onwards). The issues are as follows. Versions of Chrome(ium) before 76 will open, and actually work okay, but passwords refuse to save. I've tested multiple versions to no avail. Versions of Chrome(ium) from 77 onwards will either immediately crash upon launching, or crash when opening a local site (such as Settings, History, or Bookmarks). No version will let you sign in, Chrome or Chromium. You can enter your credentials, but it just fails to do anything. I've tried the new Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, portable Chromium builds, and even SlimJet, which is supposedly based on an older version of Chrome, but they all have the same issue. The strange thing is that it's only chromium-based browsers. Firefox works just fine, and I've legitimately had no issues using it. (Of course, tho, being a tinkerer, using a browser that I don't necessarily like isn't the most ideal solution, hence the post here). I'm also having issues with the 'api-win-crt-xxxxxx.dll' files being missing, but that's understandable since the applicable CRT update isn't available for WinNT 6.4. The reason I say that is because I feel like it could have to do with why Chrome browsers just won't work, it may tie into those api's that are missing. I don't know for sure though, I'm not too knowledged in that area. So, I guess my question would be: does anyone have an idea of how I could run a modern build of any chrome-based browser? Or maybe, how I could install the CRT update on this build? I appreciate any and all helpful* comments. Thanks! *For the love of all that is good and pure, I know it's not safe to use this build in 2020. I've been using it for a while now, and have been taking all the necessary precautions (I mean, aside from just not using the build..?). It's a passion project, so I'm gonna stick with it. That said, I know what I'm doing when it comes to safety, I promise! (Also, here are some images of my setup in case you're interested )
While we are at it. I keep trying to use E85 in a very old car and its not running right. I could use regular gas but I am strange and stubborn. What should I do?
Chrome always gets stuck, but maybe you can copy all CRT-related files from Firefox install folder to folders where they normally install. It's like using E85 on old car: you need mods and workarounds, and it might not be perfect.
Uhm. Alrighty then. I suppose I can try that. I'm not sure what files it installs though, and that's kinda the issue with that. I wouldn't know what/where to install.
Copy all the api-ms-files from Firefox folder to C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and see what happens.
What happens if you run that program on Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 without C++ runtime installed? Will it give same error?
It's rather difficult for such a scenario to occur. IIRC, in Win10, the runtime is built into the system by default, and in Win8.1, it comes with the 'Windows 8.1 Update 1', and is then built into the system in a similar way. I thought about copying the files from 8.1 similar to how I did with Firefox, but I doubt it would make a difference, seeing as the error is pretty vague on WhoCrashed. I wonder if the update package could be modified to install on this OS? Might could look into it.
Use windows 10 Ltsb 2015 with openshell + aero skin Or use windows 8.1 embedded industry if you dislike windows 10 Use kms_vl_all to activate To avoid probleme dont use unsupported build
