Hi guys, first post here. Great forum! The Windows 7 Repository Thread is amazing I must say. Anyway, I searched around the forum and googled but not much help, though a lot of information popped up but nothing I found that I thought was useful.

So what happened was, I tried installing Windows 7 on my moms laptop (HP Compaq NC4000 - no CD drive) and it wouldn't let me. It was looking for an unspecified driver. So I grabbed a XP SP3 CD that came with my dad's laptop and through UltraIso, copied it onto a USB stick hopefully it would run and repair or even format/install SP3 on the NC4000. The computer started up, loaded from the USB stick and read INF file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing, status 18.

What are my other options here? I don't know which version of XP it had on the laptop. Would it matter?

The computer could be formatted, all files were back up prior to the crash. My plan is to get Windows up and running again, then proceed to install Windows 7 after.

    Thanks!
