Hi all Ive been trolling the forums trying to figure out how to patch my new 7 install and there is just too much information that is confusing the hell out of me. I hope you dont tear me appart but here we go...

What does SLIC stand for ?

I have an XFX 680i SLI mobo loaded with Phoenix-AwardBIOS v6.00PG, and I am not sure as to what patch BIOS I should be flashing to there just are so many of them and the titles for these files just do not make any sence, any one that you might recomend for my specific mobo?

There are I think 2 ways to patch 7 installs. The one way where you patch the BIOS, and the apploader that is used from within windows. Am I mistaken that these two are to be used seperatly, or do they have to be used in conjunction with each other, or are they both effective at reaching the desired goal but are used as back up just incase if either patch gets disabled in the future?

What applications would I be needing to get my install patched? So far I think I have read about 5 or 6 different loaders I think they are called, and a bunch of other programs to work with bios files ( I think to create my own BIOS patch) but if anything reading about all of these programs have confused me.

I think these might just be the start....

BTW: Im really really sorry if these questions have already been asked, I have tried to answer my own questions but one thread will go one way and the next one after that will go in an oposite direction, and I end up with more questions then I started off with. So please I can only ask for you guys to bare with me

SLIC stands for Software Licensing. The methods for activating windows 7 are Bios Mod, loader, Hazar's RemoveWAT.

Bios Mod: You must install a bios that has a SLIC table along with a matching certificate.

Loader: A simple program that makes windows think there is a SLIC table in the bios before it boots up(I recommend DAZ's Loader)

Hazar's RemoveWAT: Rather then activate this little tool actually removes that activation system entirely to keep your pc up and running as if it was activated.

I would recommend the Bios Mod method because it is the cleanest way to activate windows 7. There is a risk of bricking your pc though. DAZ's new 7loader 1.7.2 seems to be pretty dam good too dude. Anyway, here are your choices. I know there are more loaders but I have only tested Hazar's 7loader and DAZ's 7loader and the DAZ one works the best. Good luck.
