Hello, I have a problem with installing Windows 8.1 x86. Before that I had Windows XP x86 installed on the system (worked fine). So, I downloaded the untouched Windows 8.1 Core/Pro x86 (en-US) from the Jukebox, used Rufus to make a bootable USB (just like many times before) and tried installing the OS. It all goes well up until after I create partitions, format and chose where to install Windows. Then it starts installing and then it reboots for the first time. Then, when it's supposed to come back into the setup program it reboots again instead of coming into the program. And when it boots again it gives this message (I took a photo): After this first happened I used DISKPART clean all command and tried again from the beginning - and it happened exactly the same! All I get after a reboot is that message. Do you know what could be the problem (regarding that it happens after the first reboot in installation)? Thanks... PS: Also, the installation gave me no choice if I wanted the Pro or Core version installed. PS2: Then I tried with my old ISO of Windows 8.1 x64 (with KMSPico activation integrated). Note: I've successfully installed Windows 8.1 with that same ISO on another computer a while ago. It came a little further during setup but then rebooted and gave me this (another photo): The only thing I can think of is that maybe my hardware doesn't support Windows 8.1 - but it's not that old. Here are the specs: CPU: DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ @ 2.40 GHz MBO: Asus M2N-E SLI RAM: 3 GB DDR2-800 GPU: Geforce 9500 GT HDD: Seagate ST3320620NS (320 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-II) I will try installing Windows XP again right now to see what happens...
Update: I've installed Windows XP SP3 x86 without a problem. I should be able to install Windows 8.1 x86 too (only Windows 8.1 x64 is unsupported on my AMD processor). Please help.
look for NX, PAE and SSE2 in the list. If you want to install 64-bit Windows 8.1, also seeks CX16 (as CMPXCHG16B is out), and Prefetchw LAHF-SAHF. Check the entire list if necessary, because it is NOT sorted alphabetically. Look at the symbol on the right of each of those parameters. If an asterisk (*) your CPU supports it. If it is a minus (-) means that does not.
Processor supports Windows 8.1, MB/BIOS supports Windows 8.1, but unable to install either Windows 8.1 x86 or Windows 8.1 x64. Has progressed beyond the level of my experience. Good luck on your search for a solution.
Not every Computer that will accept Windows 8.0 will upgrade to 8.1. (FACT) Some computers that would accept Windows 8 Pre-View would not install Windows 8.0 GA. (FACT) I have a client who has 3 Computers all by the SAME Manufacture, and 2 take the same BIOS and 1 does not... the 2 Bios are are the same when updated accept Windows 8.1 all updates to v.17238, while the other will only accept Windows 8.0. - The Windows 8.0 was Originally Windows XP.
In Device Manager select the Item and Properties ... Use Update Driver Software. If nothing then ... select Details and move to Hardware IDs ... Copy the ID, paste into Google and see if anything is available.
