I don't post much because I can usually find it by searching. I just can't seem to find anything that works.

When I try to update to a new version it won't let me keep settings and files some of the time. I just wait for another release until it works.

    I am on 25217-221001-1723

I just tried Build numbers: 22622.601 and 22623.875, and neither gives me an option to upgrade, fresh only.

I use Rufus to get by the new restrictions. It's a pretty simple process, and I could walk someone over the phone how to do it. Some builds allow me to keep files and settings and some don't.

Anyone have an idea what the heck I am doing wrong?

For upgrades no need for any install medium, just mount the ISO in explorer and run setup.

If you need to bypass the system requirements run the ISO by my tool (option 2) and next you can do the upgrade as instructed above.

Addition: You can't downgrade from a higher (dev) build (25217) to a lower build (2262x.xxx) with keeping settings and files.

You are on a higher dev build (25217 is higher than 2262x), and Microsoft will never let you go back. That and nothing else prevents your desired actions.

I guess got old. How I missed it, that is just sad. Thank you. I knew when I posted this I would look like an idiot. Stay young, even knowing DOS won't help you when you get old.
