    Hello all!

Somehow I ended up with a "Phantom Drive" in Disk Management. I tried using DISKPART to reove it, but only LIST DISK shows it as a disk (1) - LIST VOLUME does not display it at all.

How can I remove the blasted thing?

    Thanks!

That only works if you have a drive letter - I do not.

Can you show a screenshot of disk manager?

I run Samsung Magician. It doesn't show the drive, nor does this sort of drive show on my other system that has Samsung Magician.

WIth older magician versions you could preserve GB's of ssd space, but in newer versions it probably does it automatically, but it was worth the check that it maybe was preserved space by magician.

No, you are misunderstanding - the 29gb drive DOES NOT EXIST!!!

It does not show up because it is un-allocated in the disk management.
Have you made any attempts to allocate it?
What brand name and model number is this laptop or desktop?

I have seen some laptops with 30 or 32? gb ssd's soldered onto the motherboard. It's there and it is not going anywhere if that is your case

No, I thought I had made things quite clear. The 29gb drive does not exist, it has never existed, it is not a hidden partition or system created or anything like that. It was from an external USB drive that did not read correctly. The external drive is no longer connected.

Maybe there was a pin protected encrypted external USB drive connected before.

Is this a laptop or a desktop?
    Brand name and model number?
And you have rebooted since removing the usb device?

No, no encryption. I know these are common, but NOT without an associated drive letter. Every solution to them seems to involve having a drive letter.

Ok, so thinking along that last statement, I thought I'd try and see if I could actually do anything with that 29gb, so I tried formatting it. Damned if it didn't format. It must somehow be an unallocated part of the 500gb SSD, but have never encountered this before. I suppose I'll find out when I get around to wiping the drive and re-installing things ...... :(
