    Hi,

I have an SSD plus 3 or 4 crap regular hard drives (100-300gb) so I decided to buy the Seagate Expansion 3TB drive today.

    I want to partition it into 3 sectors, 1) Movies - 500gb 2) Games 1500gb 3) Storage 700gb
yeah so I have 2.72tb and use whatever is left as the storage partition, however using windows disk manager to partition it I have some problems..

I had a problem with actually shrinking it because disk manager said the service is disabled, googled it; turned out having disk defrag service disabled ties with the disk manager, what I want to know is can I safely disable it again AFTER I partition my drive?

When I shrunk my drive for 500gb I got 500gb of Unallocated Space in black bars, when I right-click nothing highlights, apart from the PROPERTIES bar. I can't even extend the hard drive back to its 2.72tb size because it says: "only the first 2tb are usable on large MBR disks. Cannot create partitions beyond the 2TB mark, nor convert the disk to dynamic"

I believe you have to initialize it or something with GUPID? please help on this! :p

Also is there any benefit in actual partitioning, I'm mainly doing it to keep things organized but I can just as easily do it with folders and such?

    Thanks

EDIT: also like to mention, I tried using AOEMI partitioner but the software fails to find my external hard drive in the first place.

    I'm sorry,

    you should have simply asked!

I'm running win7 ult 64 on my SSD. I have a normal BIOS so yes I am booting from MBR.

    Any more questions mate?

    Thanks

From within the W8 OS go to "Disk Management" and verify if the W7 partition is still present and where the W8 got installed (which drive?)
