If it's a Thinkpad it will be the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) - it's available from the Lenovo webpage.
91011, thinks it is a thinkpad i wasn't sure you didn't say it was your own machine. any joy did Unknown Device Identifier 7.00 work for you?
it required activating windows update which is something i like to avoid . ahh u mean a s/w i dunno about it ill look for it in google thanks
You are suggested to do a thorough driver backup with My Drivers after you have identified all the unknown devices with their proper device drivers software installed. is that important ? it seems complicated . or do i just ignore and install the program ?
no but i can't expand the the devices to see if any have errors what is the problem you can't click on the uknown device and have windows search for driver.
i did expand all of them , am not lazy . nothing was there . ive been advised by time surfer to stay away from enabling widows updates . and i remembers now when i was testing another installation of win7 on another partitions i used the update and windows could find anything in case nothing was solved do i just remove it then ? and haw ? i dont see anything is missing without this device . thanks
yes you can always remove it even though windows may not recognise it if you expand it does it say whether it is working or not ? in windows device manager i mean. you can still enable windows update but have it so that it dont install them you can select which ones you wan't
its enabled alright but properties said its not installed i removed it ,restarted . then it appeared again same way as unknown device . i posted on asus forum maybe they know something . its their chip after all
If this is homebuilt machine surely you know what hardware is installed first thing you should get are drivers asus P5Q Pro motherboard direct from asus.
xp never showed that driver but it used to show 2 lan adapters and i used to disable one of them . it had some numbers next to it like 32 or something . win7 only showed 1 . i installed all win7 64 drivers from asus . strange thing i noticed at devices and printer screen when i right click on it , it has the eject option like dvd devices when i clicked it my dvd device ejected , but the dvd device is already shown up the menu
ok driver id says its ATK0110 which is a utility found at asus download section . but so am not a power user . what good is this driver for ? what changes it will make ? am kinda worried i spent lots of time formatting and installing i dont wanna mess anything thanks
