Ever since I upgraded to Windows 11, there's an unknown file called 'PR64.exe' is being created on my desktop everytime I restart. Even if I delete the file it comes back. The file size is 0 bytes and opening it does nothing. It's also not a virus/malware as I've scanned it and my windows is running fine as usual. Any idea what this file is?
It wasn't like this before. I did a clean reinstall, downloaded the iso from techbench. Apparently it's a 'procdump executable' but I still don't know how to get rid of it.
Not likely. procdump executables are digitally signed by Microsoft and you would see that under the file properties.
How did you get Windows 11 on your computer? Did You upgraded from something or you did clean install? If there is a file whose volume is 0 in all respects, i.e. both the size of the file itself and the space used on the disk are 0, then such a file does not exist in reality. In reality, however, your Windows is full of junk, and such a file name is somewhere in the list or registry, and as a result, the file name is displayed somewhere, in this case on the desktop. That's what you'll be looking for and You'll look for it for ever. If cleaning doesn't help, you have two options, accept it or do a clean install using a trusted and clean source.
I checked the file with process monitor and it's being created by Vanguard service(valorant's anticheat).
That would make it a bug or quirk in that Anticheat. Wasn't that the game that's even using the TPM for this?
