Unlock Add features to Windows

If you do not have it.. then it is not exist

your version is most likely Win 8 Pro Volume (not retail)

go to system32 folder and check if there is an exe file named WindowsAnytimeUpgrade. if you find it just run it.

 

no this is the result file, that means ur windows has been already upgraded. to check it just run that file and see what it reports.

If the output says "The current edition cannot be upgraded to any target editions." you're out of luck.

 

Same with me (this edition cannot be upgraded to any target editions) it's because i'm using pro vl & it won't let anyone add media center for some reason, unless somebody finds a way.

I wonder if getting the WindowsAnytimeUpgrade.exe file and running it would do anything.

when you goto reinstall windows (eg. windows reset or fresh install) you will need to use a windows 8 pro with wmc all ready in it i sugest to use

once installed use the token manager to restore your back up tokens you wont even need to reboot to be actived this could not be easier

 

thanks for clearing the air about this, i found out that i cannot install the WMC, so which edition (sha1) should be installed so the WMC will work...

its not based on sha1 hash thats only related to the cd
if you use the cd that i listed its the msdn release it has the x64 os and should take any key that is valid it works for multi editions just need to enter the key for the edition you want which is the win8 pro vl key ending (*-*-*-*-J8CK4)

again you can use windows 8 pro (retail, and vl), windows 8 (core, retail only to upgrade to pro pack) "32bit,x64bit"
there is no vl for core

you can not use enterprise

because the vl edition does not have the WMC file in the WinSxS folder.. contrary to the retail edition

The discussion was about any way to unlock media center/add features in pro_vl version we all know about the win8 iso, there may be some way for people who already installed the vl version.

 

You can't unlock it, no matter what you do. The media center content is simply not included in the VL version, meaning a bunch of files/executables/data etc. are missing. It's not just a matter of tricking the system.

 

my experience is if you freshly install Win 8 pro VLK and activate via KMS .. you will be able to add features. but after a few activation and Windows update,
then to add features and upgrade to media center will fail. I have tried it several times. Now I have a Win 8 pro VLK partition activated with KMS, I cannot add feature.
yes I tried windowupdateanywhere / force install the media center key using ipk .. even use tried using the Advanced Tokens Manager to no avail. Best is install WMC using the integrated ISO and activate it with the Ms key.

 

en_windows_8_pro_vl_x64_dvd_917699.iso don't have the add feature option at all lol, doesn't matter what you use to activate windows.....
