i just finished installing it with sp2+updates, and the size on C drive is 8,5gb. the initial cd is less than 600mb. i know its decompressing etc, but still! and i havent install any of my softwares, like adobe etc
when i installed it, i deleted first the old OS and started installing in an unpartitionated space. i have 3 partitions; 1 for the OS and the other for different stuff. i formated the C partition only whats the usual size for an xp pro x64 sp2?
How much ram do you have? The more ram you have the larger the pagefile and hibernation files are, if left at default settings. Also updates do take up a lot of space unless you download and manually install each one with the /nobackup switch.
i have 4gb RAM. my hibernation option is switch off because '' system running in PAE mode, and hibernation is not allowed in PAE mode''. the updates i make them manually, but can you describe please the /nobackup switch?
My install of XP x64 with SP2 & all updates available chewed up: 3.72 GB of space. I installed it on a new, clean (60 GB) partition booting from the CD after restarting the PC. Strange the large difference.
is because of the net.framework. when i installed netframework 4 the size added 1gb! and when i installed netframework 2.0 it also added 800mb. i had to install so that ati catalyst will work(it required 2.0) i would unninstall 4, but im certain it will not delete the hole ''1gb''
