Have a backup drive connected to my router and after updating i can't access it. I can still access my freenas drives so what gives here and what did they break this time.
Updating to what, 14926? If so, there are numerous reports about that in the Feedback tool, so you're not alone.
Had the same problem with my Netgear Router. Could not access my Network Drive after 13th Sept. Update. I overcame the problem by switching from my Microsoft Account to a Local Account and can now access my network Drive
I remember sometime back there was a simler issues when people logged in with a pin rather then a password.
broken permissions.. all i see in win 10 upgrades. google windows repair portable. run it in safemode with defaults. reboot and remap drive. (likely wont need to as it shouldwork)
sound like your using this computer as your primary.....never do that 14926 is for testing purposes only.
I like LatinMG's suggestion to just remap the drive. Unfortunately, I've had to do that on every version of Windows I've used since XP I believe.
Yeah its a effective tool for messing with you windows if you leave it at default settings considering some of whats checked doesn't even relate to windows 10. It also sets much of your network discovery services to manual meaning you dont see anything until you go back in and turn them on again. Also this isn't a problem that simply related to preview builds its exist in standard windows installs thanks to a windows update. This isn't merely a upgrade issues but a much more widespread windows issue.
Definitely need more information to make an informed suggestion on a fix. Are you logged into Windows under a Microsoft account or PIN? What kind of error are you getting when trying to access it? Is it even showing up? You can try this in a command prompt: net use * /delete this will delete all mapped drives, then you should be able to remap them theoretically. Using repair tools such as the Tweaking.com Windows Repair or similar tools is not recommended unless a last resort, as they can also cause additional problems(rare, but it happens)
So you're saying you can't remap the drives? How were you able to map them originally? What does the number of monitors have to do with mapping drives?
i fix 5 to 8 of the same issue in a week or 2. Edit: example a pc that was upgraded from w7sp1 to 10 and had gdata antivirus and sage accounting soft did it and had to be wiped in the end.. and hes happy for wipe as its running better than new win 7 the traditional fixes dont apply always if permissions are broken to a file or registry. post win repair works %98 of times.. if not then i reupgrade (keeping programs and files) with mediacreationtool and issue resolved almost always
magnus33 Can you access the target PC in File Explorer->Network where your share is located? Do you have the network discovery enabled on that PC and on your PC? What the following console command says? Code: net use Z: \\networkpc\share Where Z: is the mapped drive letter I used just for example.
I have a freenas computer which i can map the shares perfectly fine. I have a dlink 320 for file backup which i can no longer map the share. ( i can add it with the dlink drive mapping tool oddly but this share well stop working on reboot) I have a harddrive connected to my ac68u router which can no longer be mapped. I reinstalled clean (harddrive failure) so its not a upgrade issue. Have confirmed that the shares are working fine and the only thing that's changed is windows 10. A local account lets you access the drives again and a microsoft account doesn't so that makes me think they are still messing around with the gpo. The windows repair tool does no fix the issue.
