Updates for boot.wim

    Hello all,

    There are so many lists for updates need to be integrated into install.wim for up-to-date ISO but there is not such a similar list for boot.wim (& winre.wim).

    Just curious to know which updates should be integrated into boot.wim (mostly index 2) to bring it to date?

    To shrink the winre.wim size you could do a /resetbase command (also for boot.wim).

    After updating the IR5 x64 WinRE.wim as described in post #3, my WinRE.wim size is 297,173,116 bytes. After using the command:

    DISM /Image:WindowsRE /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase

    the WinRE.wim size is 303,308,108 bytes. So, in this case, using the /ResetBase option did not shrink the WinRE.wim size.:g:

    However, using the /ResetBase option did force the updates with "Install Pending" to be "Installed", so thank you for the suggestion.:)

    Any wim get serviced, must be rebuilt (images exported to new wim) to get rid of extra size

    After unmounting the WinRE.wim and using the command:

    DISM /Export-Image /SourceImageFile:WinRE.wim /SourceIndex:1 /DestinationImageFile:x64_WinRE.wim /Compress:max /CheckIntegrity

    the x64_WinRE.wim size is 247,424,422 bytes, compared to the source WinRE.wim size of 303,308,108 bytes.

    The final operations would be to delete the source WinRE.wim and then rename x64_WinRE.wim to WinRE.wim before copying to the \Recovery\WindowsRE folder.
