Updating Windows Server 2012 R2

    Hi all,

    Is there a guide or any information on how to update Windows Server 2012 R2?

    I've installed using en_windows_server_2012_r2_vl_with_update_x64_dvd_6052766.iso but Windows Update just hangs on 'Checking for Updates' continually.

    Download a piece of software named Windows Update Minitool, also knwon as WUMT.
    You will find a lot of information on this forum about it, but you may need to download from elsewhere on one of the trusted sites.
    Use the version dated December 2016. There is a newer one which you will probably not find anymore which is discontinued due to some issues.
    Use the default settings for scanning and in addition select the Include superseded option.
    If this does not work, there is something wrong with your system and I would suggest starting clean with a newer installation.
